why do i like haiku so much anyways?

                    ____
The first haiku I ever remember writing was in Ms. Williams 6th grade english class right before the holidays:
                    ____
                    all spirits warm now
                    but after that wondrous eve
                    the magic has gone

                    ____
I wrote it in my best penmanship with my favorite colored marker-pens, and gave it to her as a token of my adoration.  She kept it behind her desk all year.
These wee tributes-in-words became my gifts-of-choice and
(despite a brief obsession with magnetic poetry in my high school years)
they remain to this day a favorite method of expression; simple, precise and immeasurably powerful.

I like to write them on bar napkins and on my hand and in a wee orange book my Jessica-friend gave me expressly for that purpose.  I like to give them to the people I adore and to random passers-by

(for they could at any moment become people that I adore).

It is my fervent wish to create events that celebrate haiku (and humanity).  Thus the Guerilla Haiku Movement was born!   Diverse agents of haiku in cities all over the world are sent to chalk their cities in HAIKU, engaging their fellow men and women and children as they frolic.
Our first event was November 6th in NYC.  6 cities is my goal for 2011!  12 cities is what I actually accomplished- and NOW, it's 2012-  What does the future hold?!?

If you wish to become an agent of haiku-
